Hypoglycaemia

Previous Next

Who is at risk for and how do you manage hypoglycaemia in patients with HF taking empagliflozin?

  • Insulin and insulin secretagogues, e.g. sulphonylureas, may increase the hypoglycemia risk

  • Consequently, a lower insulin dose or an insulin secretagogue may be needed to lower hypoglycaemia risk when patients use insulin plus empagliflozin

Note:
  • HF, heart failure; UTI, urinary tract infection.
  • Empagliflozin (Jardiance®) PH LPI November 2022.
  • The advice in this deck should not be interpreted as official management guidelines and is not designed to replace professional judgement when assessing patients with HF.
